The second dream I remember last night involved my 25 year high school reunion (I am not sure if one is actually happening). For part of it, I was in a classroom. I wanted to behave like my current self, or the person I had become only shortly after high school was over, a more self-confident person. However, I found myself unwittingly returning to the way I was then. I even found myself wearing sweatpants and answering a question all shy in front of a girl I once had a crush on. After that, I went out into this huge reception room where I saw the entire class. No faces really looked familiar. I tried to order food but nobody really noticed me. I was so conflicted.
Dreams about high school reunions often symbolize a desire for self-reflection and evaluation of personal growth. In this dream, it seems that you are seeking validation and acceptance from your former classmates, as well as wanting to present yourself as the person you have become since high school. The classroom setting represents a return to old patterns and behaviors. Despite your aspiration to showcase your current self-confidence, you find yourself reverting to your former shy and timid self, even in the presence of someone you once had a crush on. This suggests that there may be unresolved feelings or insecurities from your past that are influencing your present behavior. Moving to the reception room where you see your entire class, the unfamiliar faces could symbolize a sense of disconnect or detachment from your high school peers. This might indicate that you feel disconnected from your past or struggle with the idea of fitting in with old acquaintances. Your failed attempt to order food and the lack of attention you receive highlight feelings of being overlooked or disregarded. This could reflect a deep-seated fear of not being noticed or accepted by others, even in a setting that should be focused on reconnecting with classmates. Overall, this dream suggests a need to reconcile your past and present selves and explore any lingering insecurities or unresolved emotions. It may be helpful to evaluate your current level of self-confidence and work on embracing your growth since high school. Additionally, consider letting go of any desire for external validation and instead focus on self-acceptance and self-worth.
